Aluminium Finishes

Powder Coating

The most popular finish to aluminium and available in a very wide range of colours and gloss levels. Powder coated profiles used in frames can be of single colour or dual colour where the inside and outside can be of a different colour. Powder coating is a robust finish which will last for many years with minimal maintenance. Care must be taken when near to the coast however, as a marine grade of coating must be specified.

Anodising

Anodising is a controlled process which oxidises the surface of the aluminium offering a very even thickness of oxidisation. The final finish, which is aluminium oxide, is exceptionally hard wearing and will not fade or peel as it is part of the aluminium itself. Often used as 'bronze anodising' where metals are included in the process or silver which is just the 'clear' anodising, the finish carries a premium and is little used today in residential applications.

Timber Clad

Aluminium profiles can be offered with a timber strip on the inside of the frame which then gives the window a complete timber appearance from the inside, whilst offering a very hard wearing powder coated or anodised finish externally.
